Societe Generale Ghana a leading Bank in Ghana and a subsidiary of the Societe Generale Group celebrated its Citizen Commitment Time on 20th June 2015; a Time dedicated to social and community work.  The Societe Generale Group has on its calendar every year in June, a Time dedicated to serving communities where all Societe Generale entities demonstrate the Bank’s commitment to solidarity. The essence of the celebration is to choose a project that will have an impact in the community and more importantly the staff should be committed to the project.  As part of the activities, staff of Societe Generale Ghana once again visited the Shelter for Abused Children in Osu - Accra.
In a welcome address, the Shelter’s Manageress Georgina Mensah, said SG Ghana had committed itself to the Shelter for Abused Children for the last 5 years and they were delighted , grateful and honoured to have staff from SG Ghana participate in this year’s event. She noted the activities for the day will definitely leave smiles on the faces of the Staff and Children by giving the less privileged in society the opportunity to learn and live in clean shelters through the Bank’s renovation of the Assembly and ICT blocks. She added that the social interaction, clean up, games and the other activities will impact positively on the lives the Children.
The Deputy Managing Director of the Bank, Mr Francois Marchal in a response said in 2012 and 2013, the Bank celebrated the Citizen Commitment Time with the Shelter by setting up a Computer Laboratory with 20 highly functional computers complete with cabling and furnishing, refurbished the Library Facility, roofed the canteen and painted the Shelter’s External Walls.

He added that, “this year, Societe Generale Ghana is renovating the Shelter’s Assembly Hall, Children’s Play Room and Staff Office which need maintenance to continue to function as desired. The Bank’s employees, who are here today, will complete this task by painting the structures. Further, Societe Generale Ghana Staff will also assist in cleaning the Shelter and interact with the children on various levels to serve as an inspiration to them”.
He stated that the Bank was assisting the Shelter as  part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and that SG Ghana believes CSR means TO CARE; TO SHARE AND TO RESPECT. 
Shelter For Abused Children In Osu
The Shelter for Abused Children is a temporary Shelter run by the Department of Social Welfare since October 2003. The shelter serves as a referral point for organizations working to protect the interest of children in the country, especially the Domestic Violence & Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service. These agencies normally request for care and protection for victims of child abuse whiles their cases are pending proceedings. The children are taken through psycho-social and medical rehabilitation.
