Societe Generale Ghana Limited has held a conference for the Bank’s business customers and the general public on its new ground breaking Global Transaction Banking service at the Kempinski Hotel on Tuesday 12th July 2016.This new service aims to facilitate the transactional activities of Business Customers, both domestically and globally.

The Managing Director, Mr. Sionle Yeo, welcomed the distinguished guests to the event. Mr. Yeo spoke on the Societe Generale Group’s presence in Africa over the years, its network and coverage, and some key milestones it has achieved in Africa, stating that, “Societe Generale Group operates as a universal bank, covering all markets, all segments of clients and bringing our local and our international expertise to every customer.”

On Ghana, Mr. Yeo told participants that the expertise of the Societe Generale Group is being made more easily accessible to the Bank’s customers in Ghana. Mr. Yeo also gave an update on the Bank’s Transformation Program launched towards the end of 2015 with the objective of streamlining its operations and optimizing its staffing and skills to support its ambitious business development targets over the next three (3) years. The ambition lies on four (4) major pillars; better operational efficiency, innovative products and services, improved quality of service grooming customer intimacy, better motivated and committed teams.

Mr. Yeo touched on the Global Transaction Banking Service offer of the Bank within the Transformation Program and handed the mantle to the Team to undertake the Presentation.

The Team was made up of Mr. Fred Obosu – General Manager for Corporate Banking, Mrs. Irene Owiredu-Akrofi – General Manager for Treasury, Mrs. Celestine Amison-Addy – Head of the Bank’s new Global Transaction Banking department, and Mr. Kwame Ofori-Offei – Deputy Head of the Global Transaction Banking department.

The Team spoke about the Societe Generale Ghana’s new and improved Foreign Exchange Capabilities and the key features of the Global Transaction Banking  offer which encompasses; Cash Management, Trade Finance and Foreign Exchange, Correspondant Banking, Factoring, Leasing and Custody.

Mrs. Irene Owiredu-Akrofi presented the features of the Bank’s new and improved Foreign Exchange capabilities in Spot transactions and Forwards transactions with maturities of up to one year. On the New Regulations on Foreign Exchange, Mrs. Irene Owiredu-Akrofi spoke on the companies’ affected (mining sector) and the opportunities presented.

Speaking at the Event, Mrs. Celestine Amison-Addy reiterated the Bank's unique combination of tools and experts being placed at the disposal of customers within the new Global Transaction Banking service. Mrs. Amison-Addy said that there were two main dimensions to the new Global Transaction Banking Service offer; Technology Support in service delivery and the personalized approach that ensures customers satisfaction.

Under technology support, Mrs. Amison-Addy stated that the Bank is providing state-of-the art tools that can be integrated in various corporate environments and processes, a focus on security and an enhancement of the quality of service through a more reliable and faster execution of services with wider reporting options to ensure customers satisfaction. Also on the new personalized approach, Mrs. Amison-Addy stated that this involves a better understanding of business cycles to propose adequate solutions that integrate within the customer's business and finance processes to improve efficiency. This includes accurate parameterization of standard platforms to fit organizations of our individual customers, and permanent availability of the Bank’s business experts to support customers in addition to the dual team made up of a Relationship Manager and an Assistant Relationship Manager who take care of the core relationship with the customer

Mr. Kwame Ofori-Offei spoke on the new Cash Management offer under the Global Transaction Banking service. He said that Cash Management was made up of Account Maintenance, Flows Management, Electronic Banking and Liquidity Management. These features imbedded in the fully integrated Sogecashnet platform will provide our customers with flexible and tailor made solutions. Mr. Ofori-Offei iterated that these new features will ensure the bank builds on and maintains a long term relationship with its customers.

There were two (2) customer testimonials on the new Global Transaction Banking service being offered by the Bank. There was Mr. Adolph Adjei, Managing Director of Sapholda Ventures Limited, who attested to the benefits of the Bank’s Factoring solution and Mr. Foster Buabeng, Chief Accountant at Nestle Ghana, who spoke on the benefits his company has derived from Societe Generale Ghana’s Reverse Factoring offered under its Global Transaction Banking service.

After addressing questions raised by both Customers and the Journalists, the Bank’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Francois Marchal concluded the evening’s activities by thanking all the bank’s honoured guests for taking part in the presentation. Mr. Marchal sounded a special appreciation to the Bank’s customers for their loyalty and for the very helpful feedback they have provided to their Bank over the years. Mr. Marchal further symmetrized the unique role that the Global Transaction Banking service plays in positively enhancing the banking industry and he ended by thanking the two Clients of the Bank who participated in the presentation.
