Societe Generale Ghana has officially commissioned its new ultra-modern Airport City Branch. The ceremony, held on the premises of the Branch, took place on Thursday 18 February 2016. This event had in attendance the Bank’s Board of Directors, Management and Staff, Clients, the Media and several high profile guests.
Welcoming the guests to the event, Mr. Sionle Yeo – the Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana reiterated the Bank’s commitment to provide quality products and services that best satisfy its Customers needs by employing the highest standards in Commitment, Responsibility, Team Spirit and Innovation, the core of the Societe Generale's group. Mr. Yeo outdoored the New Airport City Branch as the Bank’s 41st Branch; in addition to Ashaiman and East Legon branches which were opened last year. Mr. Yeo further stated that the Bank’s Customers were at the heart of all its decisions and that the New Airport City Branch had been strategically positioned to serve as a hub for its Retail, SME and Privileged banking activities.
He insisted to mention that many new features have been added to the design of this ultra-modern branch, among which an innovative automatic Queue Management System and a full Privilege Lounge designed to offer our customers a more functional, comfortable, stress-free and user-friendly banking space.
Addressing the staff and guests at the Commissioning Ceremony, Mr. Kofi Ampim the Board Chairman of Societe Generale Ghana stated that it is the Bank’s objective to bring its products and services to the doorsteps of its Clients and prospective Customers. Mr. Ampim stated that it is Societe Generale Ghana’s long-term strategy to build customised branches to cater for the specific needs of each community it serves because the Bank realises that each is different. Mr. Ampim cited the provision of a Privileged banking center at the New Airport City Branch as evidence of the Bank’s commitment to the specific needs of its Customers.

Honouring this event was Mr. Raymond Amanfu, the Head of Banking Supervision Department at Bank of Ghana (BoG) on behalf of the Deputy Governor. Mr. Amanfu commended the Board and Management the Bank for establishing another footprint to deepen its intermediation function in the corporate enclave of Accra, an area he referred to as Accra’s Manhattan.
Mr. Amanfu mentioned some key regulatory and supervisory developments in the banking sector stating that “The banking industry had experienced strong growth in recent years, largely driven by regulatory reforms, product development and advances in Information Technology”. This Growth within the industry is expected to continue as the economy continues to expand with new opportunities for growth in the financial sector. Mr. Amanfu concluded by congratulation the Bank for its contribution towards the development of the banking sector, and the overall development of the economy.
The event was brought to a close by Mr. Kwaku Tweneboa-Kodua – General Manager for Retail Banking at Societe Generale Ghana who thanked the various speakers and guests for their participation and contribution to make the Commissioning of the New Airport City Branch a success. Mr. Tweneboa-Kodua affirmed the Bank’s promise to continue serving the needs of its Clients with a dedicated TEAM to secure their growth.
The new Airport City Branch provides Customers with a 24/7 ATM for all VISA, GH Link and MasterCard users; Western Union and MoneyGram Money Remittance Services; and Loans and Overdrafts at very competitive rates. The Branch is located in the National Communication Authority (NCA) building in the Airport City enclave.
