Award winning films from Societe Generale Ghana’s ARTENT!ON initiative have gained international recognition following their screening at the Ghana Culture Week held in Prague, Czech Republic.

The films, created by emerging Ghanaian filmmakers at last year’s ARTENT!ON initiative were showcased to a diverse international audience as part of a curated film segment celebrating contemporary African storytelling. The screenings formed a key highlight of the multi-day cultural event organised by Indelibl Arts, an initiative committed to promoting African art and culture on global platforms.

The Ghana Culture Week was held in March 2026 in Prague, and brought together creatives, cultural institutions, and international audiences. The inclusion of Societe Generale Ghana’s ARTENT!ON-winning films as part of the programme highlights the growing global appeal of Ghana’s creative industry and the rising influence of its next generation of filmmakers.

ARTENT!ON 2025, which was held in partnership with Africa Movie Box(AMB) challenged emerging filmmakers to tell impactful stories by addressing key social issues using the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). The films were evaluated using criteria such as relevance, cinematography, storyline, alignment of core message to SDGs, amongst others. Ultimately 5 films emerged winners; Weavers Thread, Before the Sun Rises, After the Last Wear, Bride Price and Silent Strokes.

By providing a platform for these films beyond Ghana’s borders, the international audiences in attendance at the Ghana Culture Week in Prague were presented a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary Ghanaian perspectives, storytelling techniques, and creative expression.

Societe Generale Ghana’s ARTENT!ON initiative continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing young creative talent by offering visibility, recognition, and opportunities for growth.
