Societe Generale Ghana has drawn the curtains on its exciting art competition, Artention 2025 at a brief but lively event at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall.

The short film titled ‘Weavers Thread’ emerged as the overall winner after a thorough review and voting process involving the bank’s Board of Directors, Staff and 10 leading industry experts. The young talented film makers were awarded a cash prize of GHS 50,000.

This year’s edition of the Artention competition, which was held in partnership with Africa Movie Box(AMB) challenged emerging filmmakers to tell impactful stories addressing key social issues using the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). The films were evaluated using criteria such as relevance, cinematography, storyline, alignment of core message to SDGs, amongst others.

In his address, Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Mr Hakim Ouzzani highlighted Artention as a powerful platform for the expression of arts and discovery of talents.

“The films you will be viewing here tonight are stories of vision, passion, hard work and the desire for impact. To all the teams, we say ‘Ayekoo’, you are all winners”, he said.

“We need partnerships like this because funding is a big issue when it comes to film making here in Ghana. The government can’t take up all the responsibilities, we will need for everybody to play a key role”.
