Societe Generale Ghana has outdoored a modern solar powered digital library at the Osu Salem Road Presbyterian School.

The digital library project, commissioned in partnership with TECHAiDE and SolTedd Energy, will provide a gamut of learning, reading and research materials to the students. The library will receive uninterrupted power supply powered by solar energy.

Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Mr. Hakim Ouzzani, stated that this project is part of the bank’s commitment to driving Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, through various innovative solutions, including renewable energy. “For that reason, the use of solar panels for this digital library is our way of making yet another statement in this regard”, he said.

Stressing on the importance of knowledge acquisition, Mr Ouzzani encouraged the students to make good use of the resources now at their disposal saying “read vastly, research widely and come with groundbreaking ideas that help make the future world a better place” TECHAiDE, partners of the project in their address explained that the technology powering the digital library, Asanka, has been designed to provide learning materials through an offline platform. “With this device, teachers will get access to content to promote teaching and learning, learnmers will get access to a lot of rich content to study and the school will have rich data on how the kids are faring in terms of their academic journey”, explained Head of Business Operations, Thomas Eghan Ekuban.

CEO of SolTedd Energy, Teddy Opoku Agyemang, emphasized that this project aligns with their commitment to advance renewal energy in the country, and expressed excitement about the collaboration. “Renewable energy is not a privilege; it is a right. This system will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the facility, reduce operational costs and contribute to environmental sustainability by offsetting carbon emissions”, he stated.

The Osu Salem Road Presbyterian School, set up more than a century ago, has provided basic education to many batches of students over time. This project marks a new era for the institution as they embrace innovation and learning.
