The exercise, held at Accra Wesley Girls High School, forms part of the Bank’s broader approach to responsible environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Mr. Hakim Ouzzani, emphasized that the Bank’s responsibility extends beyond financial services to supporting the long-term wellbeing of communities and the environment.

He explained that the initiative goes beyond symbolism, noting that “trees are important in improving air quality, protecting biodiversity, and creating healthier communities for the future. Each tree we plant contributes to a more stable planet and is one of the simplest yet most effective actions we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.”

Officials from the Commission explained that such initiatives support broader national efforts aimed at environmental conservation and climate resilience.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Madam Angela Bonsu, Company Secretary of Societe Generale Ghana, who expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved. She described each tree planted as “a testament to our shared dedication to carbon sequestration, climate action, and the preservation of our environment,” and commended the Forestry Commission for preparing the site and providing seedlings and technical support.
